ABOUT
Fashion images should feel worn-in before they feel styled.
I'm Philippe Manh, a Montreal fashion photographer, retoucher and lighting director with a bold, cinematic eye. My work balances spontaneity and precision, built around lived movement: the way fabric folds, and the atmosphere around a collection before it becomes commerce.
BACKGROUND
I've spent more than a decade in Montreal's fashion and creative industry, with collaborations including Garage and Groupe Sensation Mode. Through my agency, Maison Toki, I also handle production, art direction and brand strategy, so you have one partner from concept to delivery. And I still work as a digital tech on other sets, so I know the whole day, not just my frame.
I work in French and English, and I'm as comfortable with a three-person lookbook as with a full campaign crew. Alongside brand work, I still photograph artists and musicians: press photos, album artwork and portraits that feel like their music.

HOW I WORK WITH ART DIRECTORS
Light comes first
Every scene starts as a lighting problem. Setups are tested before the day, so time on set goes to the talent and the clothes.
Retouching with intent
A creative decision, not a corrective one. The edit follows the same discipline as the light.
You see it as it happens
Tethered capture with colour calibration and live selects at the monitor. No surprises when the finals arrive.
